Red #40 is not our friend

A few weeks ago Abby found red fruit snacks, and there was a messy incident later that night. Then she ate about 10 Marciano cherries, and again an incident. I had a very strong suspicion she was allergic to red dye. A few weeks later I decide to finally make the bug cupcakes Peter has been asking for. They were lovely, if your into that sorta thing... I totally forgot about red dye, until about 2am...

I pretty much felt like the worst parent ever when I saw this picture with Abby and her red fingers!

So on Sunday when I took Abby to Nursery I started to become the responsible parent of a child with a food allergy. I felt silly as I told them that Abby had a red dye allergy. I started to say, "but you probably don' t have a lot of snacks with red dye in them.." And just as I said it one of the workers shifted her position and asked, as she motioned to a cake with RED gel icing letters covering most of it:
"So do you think this would be o.k.?"
"Uhmm... NO!"
"Well, I think it is just strawberry flavored."

I felt a little stunned, but relieved I had spared myself an extra load of laundry for the day.

No more pink frosting for Miss Abby or red sprinkles, tragic for a girl who loves pink so much, she refused to even acknowledge the other colors by remembering their names, or landing on them in Candy Land.

Orange and purple may be out too.

Happy Birthday

Abby is now 3 years old!!!! I really couldn't be any more excited that she is no longer 2! I know that lots of people say, 3 is worse than 2, but if you want to be my friend don't say it to me. Abby has actually been very well behaved lately! She is very sweet and suddenly likes to snuggle! WE love love love love our little Abby, and are very grateful to have her!

David also had a birthday, I won't mention how old he is. Even more significantly he finished his last month of general surgery and his last in-house call!!!! HE had the whole weekend off, and was able to go to church for the second time this year.
Here is the dress I finally finished to match Abby's (at my sister's request).
